I have a theory how blue jean skirts came to be.
I figure the 4-H clothing club was meeting one day and they were supposed to make a pair of bluejeans. Only one of the girls got sewing and realized she either didn't know how, or didn't care, or needed to make some kind of rebellious statement that she would not be directed or controlled by any group that felt they could throw girls together and parade them around the show ring like some kind of prize steers to be auctioned off at the Stampede every year just to get more tourist dollars on account of who would come to the Stampede just to ride the lame ferris wheel when Disneyland was only a couple days drive away . . . and so she just sewed the legs together and said ... "that's MY intertretation of blue jeans and ya I realize they aren't practical for bull riding!"
Then she tossed her head and moved to Toronto where 4-H is banned and no-one is ever allowed to talk about the Calgary Stampede.
I think 4-H has a lot to answer for.
